Doug Abts is the Chief Commercial Officer at Astranis Space Technologies and is responsible for scaling the company’s growth. Throughout his career, he has held executive roles in the areas of general management, corporate development, strategy, sales, and operations. Prior to joining Astranis, Doug was on the executive team at Viasat for seven years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development, leading the largest M&A transactions in the company’s history. Previously, Doug was the VP & General Manager of Viasat’s Commercial Aviation Connectivity business which he rapidly scaled into an industry leadership position both organically and through acquisitions. Doug also operated in key management and business development roles at Science Applications International Corporation, as the company transitioned from employee ownership to being listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Early in his career, he served with distinction as an Operations Officer and Platoon Commander in the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, holding high-level Top-Secret clearances. Doug earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University.
