Andy’s experience encompasses not only his engineering background and expertise but a holistic approach to operating a company that enables stability and efficiency of process in fastgrowth and start-up environments. Throughout his telecommunications career, his recognition that people make a company successful has always been at the forefront of his strategic approach to developing strength and agility within a business. Andy’s recent engagement was as Chief Operating Officer at EdgeUno, a connectivity and edge compute company with over 50 locations through Latin America. Andy worked across all functions of the organization, establishing departments and processes to take them from a startup mentality to one firmly established for the dramatic scale which they have achieved over the 2-year engagement. Andy was previously Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Seaborn Networks, where he led the design, construction, and implementation of Seaborn’s Seabras-1 submarine cable system from New York to Brazil. Andy then developed and implemented Seaborn’s IP business across Latin America. Prior to Seaborn, Andy led the development, design, and implementation of a new 1,240 km submarine fibre optic cable system linking Trinidad, Guyana, and Suriname, which provided the first direct submarine cable connections to Guyana and Suriname and enabled the largescale deployment of fixed and mobile broadband services in both countries for the first time. As part of his extended engagement Andy advised both governments in Guyana and Suriname from feasibility through to implementation and operation and was also instrumental in the modernization strategy for the domestic networks, maximizing the investments made by the two countries. Andy previously served as Head of Regional Submarine Networks at Global Marine Systems, a preeminent subsea cable installation company. Before Global Marine, Andy was an early member of Global Crossing’s Network Team. He brought into service all of Global Crossing’s submarine networks and led the engineering and implementation of network upgrades and provisioning of customer circuits on the global submarine network. He also led the planning, construction, and operation of Global Crossing’s Global NOC Andy began his submarine telecom career with FLAG (FEA Submarine System), where he was responsible for the successful commissioning and bringing into service of all 15 segments of the Europe to Asia submarine system and for the centralized management of the entire system from the FNOC in Fujairah, UAE. Andy served in the Royal Air Force, receiving a degree in Electronic Engineering and Aerospace Studies, and thereafter entered the telecom industry with NYNEX in the UK.
