Panel Discussion: Enabling telco cloud in a distributed edge network
Businesses and consumers increasingly require seamless access to data and services in a more distributed network. This is pushing telcos to move to cloud-based networks, which can be linked into public cloud and deliver flexible services to customers much more quickly and cheaply. The combination of regulatory pressure, rising costs and investors is compelling network providers to operate more sustainably. The panellists will question how network operators can offer an alternative to cloud platforms, and cooperate with hyperscalers on infrastructure strategy; the role of the ecosystem; whether operators can afford the risk of moving further up the stack from their core capabilities; how to improve interoperability to deliver seamless connectivity, and what network architecture will be necessary to support this and how to mitigate backhaul, latency and potential network congestion to ensure a quality user experience.
